I attended some of the events at the Rx Wellness Day yesterday and I have to say it was really positive, well put on, and inspiring to get a community to come together to increase physical activity, improve nutrition and overall health.
The Destination Wellness meeting was especially positive to see Doctors, Teachers, Coaches, Fitness Professionals, Community players and families come together to try to work out solutions toward a common goal of increasing overall community wellness. What an inspiring place that was. I met so many great contacts and wonderful people that all have a common goal. I would be pleased to sit in on more meetings and keep this ball rolling. There are still so many questions that I would like answered and what I have found is that we don't have all the answers yet, and this will definitely be a great task in becoming the healthiest community in all of British Columbia.
I had my butt kicked in the CrossFit class, I didn't even know I could hurt so bad after a 12 minute workout. Obviously all this soccer has been missing a few areas. I will definitely start doing that more often. 12 minutes, full out, everyone sweating, muscles working and I'm beat the next day. I can't ever give an excuse like "I don't have time". I know I can get a full workout done in just over 10 minutes now without any equipment. No excuses.
Lastly, there is another day for families to come and enjoy some activity on November 20th from 3-5pm after James Thompson School's Sports Day. There will be all sorts of activity like soccer, road hockey, a bouncy castle, possibly a climbing wall, a scavenger hunt and much more. Be there with your families because nothing is more encouraging for a young child to get involved in activity than getting active with their families.
